FirstBank Launches Fully-Automated Digital Xperience Center in Lekki.

FirstBank launches another Digital Xperience Center with fully automated systems for improved and efficient banking.

FirstBank has launched another Digital Xperience Center, cited on Admiralty Way in Lekki, Lagos State. A Digital Xperience center is a fully automated branch where customers can use sophisticated digital banking technology to perform smooth and effective transactions on their own, without a human agent. Some notable features of the facility include:

  • AI-Powered Humanoid Robots: These robots engage with clients in real-time, answering questions and providing guidance.
  • Video Banking Services: This feature uses video technology to allow users to communicate with customer support agents and relationship managers virtually.
  • Contactless ATMs: Speedy and safe transactions are powered by special ATMs with interactive smart screens.
  • Automated Card Issue and Account Opening: Debit cards can be issued to customers in a matter of minutes, and accounts can be opened quickly.
  • AI-enhanced Security: Artificial intelligence improves transaction security, curbs fraud, and increases operational effectiveness.

Innovative Banking Services

Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Olusegun Alebiosu of FirstBank stressed the bank’s dedication to providing innovative services that meet international standards during his remarks at the inauguration. “The Digital Xperience Center is outfitted with cutting-edge features intended to deliver a smooth and engaging banking experience. FirstBank continues to retain its position as a leader in digital banking solutions, ensuring that our customers have access to next-generation services tailored to their needs. This expansion of our Digital Xperience Centre network is central to our vision of being Africa’s bank of first choice,” Alebiosu stated.

Abimbola Kunle-Ajayi, the Group Head of Branch Operations and Services for Lagos and West, commended the effectiveness of the center. “Transaction turnaround times have been drastically shortened,” she said. “Today, a transfer that would typically take 15 to 20 minutes in a standard branch can be finished in under two minutes. Similarly, clients find card vending and ATM withdrawals to be quite handy as they can be completed in a matter of minutes.”

Facts You Should Know

According to 9am News Nigeria’s findings, FirstBank opened its first Digital Xperience Center in 2021 at Adetokunbo Ademola Street in Victoria Island, Lagos. It eventually opened another branch in August 2023 at the University of Ibadan. It launched a third Digital Xperience branch at Wuse New Market in Abuja, in October 2023. Its fourth branch was launched in Banana Island, Lagos, in March 2024.

The newly launched branch in Lekki is the fifth fully automated center established by the bank. The Digital Xperience Center is a component of FirstBank’s larger plan to transform Nigerian banking. Customers can access cutting-edge banking technologies offering greater ease and security when navigating the digital financial landscape.

FirstBank was recently granted permission by the Lagos State Government earlier this month to start building its environmentally friendly headquarters in Eko Atlantic City. First Holdco Chairman, Femi Otedola received the certificate of permission from Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu during the groundbreaking ceremony.

The proposed 40-story structure is hailed as a technological and environmental marvel and is expected to become Nigeria’s tallest building.  The building’s cutting-edge, environmentally responsible designs will establish a new standard for the African financial services industry.
