Ibadan Fire Outbreak

A major fire outbreak on Saturday gutted a four-bedroom apartment converted into a tailoring workshop in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, destroying equipment and valuables worth millions of naira.

The incident occurred in the early hours at Benjamin, Alabama Junction in the Eleyele axis of Ido Local Government Area.

Oyo Fire Service Responds Swiftly

Confirming the development, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, said the agency’s operatives were quickly deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call.

“The fire emergency was reported at exactly 4:15 a.m. on Saturday, 20th September, 2025. Once the address was verified, our team, led by ACFS Bamidele Samsudeen, promptly mobilised to the scene,” Akinwande said.

He stressed that quick reporting and accurate information from residents remain vital to minimising destruction during fire incidents.

The Oyo Fire Service urged members of the public to prioritise safety and ensure that fire outbreaks are reported immediately to enable faster interventions.

While no lives were lost in the Ibadan fire incident, the destruction of tailoring equipment and household valuables has been described as a huge economic setback for those affected.

The agency reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property across Oyo State through swift emergency response and continuous public sensitisation.
