9am news nigeria reports that on Thursday in Port Harcourt, the past winners of the Nigeria Premier Football League will present Finidi George as the current head coach of Rivers United. Finidi George, a former coach of the Super Eagles, left the national team during his short tenure due to underwhelming performance.
Following rumors ogasabi reported that regarding his future with the Nigerian Football Federation, he moved to Rivers United. The team finished eighth the previous season, and George’s arrival is intended to turn things around. Longtime strategist Stanley Eguma was fired by Rivers United at the end of the previous year. Evans Ogenyi, the former head coach of Lobi Stars, took over as coach for the remainder of the campaign.
9am news reported that before being named head coach of the Super Eagles in May, Finidi spent three years at Enyimba, where he guided the team to the 2022–2023 NPFL championship. However, after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) decided to assign a foreign technical consultant to lead the Super Eagles, Finidi, the former Ajax winger, led the national team for almost a month before resigning.
