In response to the elimination of fuel subsidies, the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) has started distributing 1,000 conversion kits to states across the federation. This effort aims to reduce transportation costs and alleviate economic strain on Nigerians.
At a press conference in Abuja, program director Michael Oluwagbemi explained that the initiative plans to convert about three million vehicles to CNG, creating over 100,000 direct jobs in the process. Commercial transport companies will be converted free of charge to help minimize the impact of rising fuel prices.
Warehouse Manager Moses Onate further revealed that 450 CNG Conversion kits have already been distributed, with 550 more on the way. The initiative, branded as ‘First Come First Serve,’ is designed to encourage wide adoption of CNG, a cheaper and cleaner fuel alternative.
