The Federal Government has announced that the Independence Bridge (Marina bound) will be closed for essential maintenance and rehabilitation works from April 1 until the end of May 2025.

The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, made this announcement in a statement on Monday, explaining that the bridge closure is necessary to ensure safety and stability for road users.

The closure will affect traffic traveling from:

  • Ahmadu Bello Way
  • Adeola Odeku
  • Towards Marina, Eko Bridge, and Onikan (Zone 2).

Mrs. Kesha urged motorists to plan their journeys accordingly and make use of alternative routes to ease congestion during the repair period.

Acknowledging the inconvenience the closure might cause, Kesha apologized to the public, emphasizing that the rehabilitation is part of the government’s efforts to improve road infrastructure and enhance safety for commuters.

Motorists and commuters are encouraged to stay informed and adhere to traffic management directives to ensure smooth movement during this period.
