Éric Sékou Chelle has been officially Unveiled as the head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles. The unveiling ceremony took place on Monday in the conference room of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
Prominent attendees included Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC); Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Ibrahim Gusau; and NFF Secretary General Mohammed Sanusi.
New Leadership and Backroom Staff
Chelle, a former defender, steps into the role after leaving his position with Algerian club MC Oran. The 47-year-old is accompanied by a trio of backroom staff:
- Hadi Taboubi: First Assistant
- Thomas Gornourec: Fitness Trainer
- Jean Daniel Padovani: Goalkeeper Trainer
Chelle will oversee the Super Eagles’ preparations for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), set to be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.
His appointment signals a new chapter for Nigerian football, with expectations of revitalizing the team’s performance on the continental stage.
The NFF expressed confidence in Chelle’s ability to lead the team to new heights, leveraging his vast experience as a player and coach.
