The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has officially announced that Eid-el-Fitr will be observed in Nigeria on Sunday, March 30, 2025, following the sighting of the crescent moon that marks the end of Ramadan 1446 AH.
The announcement was made on Saturday night, confirming reports of moon sightings from various locations across the country.
“With the sighting of the moon, Sunday, March 30, 2025, will be the 1st of Shawwal 1446 AH, marking the day for the Eid-el-Fitr celebration,” the Sultan declared.
As the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), the Sultan congratulated Muslims nationwide on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and urged them to uphold the virtues of patience, piety, and charity beyond the holy month.
Eid-el-Fitr, known as the Festival of Breaking the Fast, is a significant Islamic celebration that marks the end of the month-long Ramadan fast. It is a period of thanksgiving, spiritual renewal, and generosity, with Muslims engaging in special prayers, family gatherings, and acts of charity.
In his message, the Sultan encouraged Muslims to continue embodying the lessons of Ramadan by fostering peace, love, and unity in their communities.
