Arsenal are on the verge of completing the signing of Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze in a deal worth £60m, following an agreement in principle between both clubs.

According to BBC Sport sources, the 27-year-old England international prefers a move to the Emirates Stadium over joining Tottenham Hotspur, despite Spurs having reached an agreement after 10 days of negotiations.

The Gunners moved quickly for Eze amid growing concerns over a knee injury to attacker Kai Havertz. Mikel Arteta is keen on strengthening his attacking options, and Eze’s creativity and versatility are seen as a perfect fit for Arsenal’s style of play.

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirmed that Eze remains committed to the team, stating that the forward will feature in Thursday’s UEFA Conference League play-off against Fredrikstad alongside Marc Guehi, who is also linked with a move away.

Eze, who began his youth career at Arsenal, is determined to return to north London before the transfer window closes on September 1. His release clause, which recently expired, was set at £60m plus an additional £8m in add-ons.

The forward has enjoyed an impressive spell at Selhurst Park, notably scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup final against Manchester City last season and playing a decisive role in Palace’s Community Shield victory over Liverpool on penalties.

Eze also had a goal disallowed during Palace’s Premier League opener against Chelsea on Sunday, further underlining his impact and importance to the squad.

With Arsenal closing in on his signature, fans are eagerly anticipating his return to the club where his football journey began.
