Breaking news: Officers from the Department of State Services (DSS) have taken control of the Abuja office of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), an action the organization described as an “unlawful occupation.” The incident was disclosed in a statement released on SERAP’s X handle on Monday.
SERAP reported that DSS officers are demanding a meeting with the organization’s directors. The group has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene, urging him to direct the DSS to cease what they describe as harassment, intimidation, and an attack on Nigerians’ rights.

President Tinubu must immediately direct the SSS to end the harassment, intimidation and attack on the rights of Nigerians.
This development follows closely on the heels of SERAP’s recent call for President Tinubu to use his authority to direct the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to reverse the controversial hike in the pump price of premium motor spirit (petrol) at its retail outlets, which the organization deemed illegal and unconstitutional.
In a related Breaking news update, the DSS also arrested Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President Joe Ajaero on Monday morning. Ajaero was reportedly apprehended at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja while attempting to travel to the UK.
