9am news nigeria in report stated that the musician reaffirmed his position on the custody dispute, saying that he only wanted to share custody with his child’s mother, on July 5, 2024, taking to his Instagram account to discuss the custody dispute with Sophia Momodu.
He said in an instagram post, “You are constantly bringing up the death of my child at any point u can to just remind us of this tragedy that haunts us every day of our lives… Imade will grow up to see I fought for her. As for now, u can have her. P.S. She won’t be a child forever. Enjoy, Imade Aurora Adeleke! Your father loves you!”
9am news observed that the Davido’s posts came after their Friday morning appearance before Justice Bashua’s family court in Yaba, Lagos State.
Contrary to Momodu’s allegations, the musician emphasized during the court proceedings that he has been caring for Imade over the years as part of his paternal duties, paying for her schooling, giving her transportation, and even housing.
He clarified his stance on the custody matter, explaining that he simply wanted to share custody with his child’s mother.
“Joint custody: Both parents will have access to the child. Sole custody – Only a single parent will have access to the child. All I ask for is JOINT CUSTODY !! And nothing else! But cus it’s ‘Davido’ y’all wanna act like y’all can’t read. Smh.. I’m off this! Yall be blessed, and I pray this never happens to you,” he wrote.
But Momodu asserted that Davido had neglected their child for the previous two years and ruled him unfit to raise their child; she told the court that Davido is unreliable and incapable of providing for her; she enumerated six reasons for her assessment of his unfitness, from his controversial lifestyle to his unavailability; in her paperwork, she further claimed that Davido used to see their daughter only when he had PR or media appearances scheduled. Meanwhile, a little drama had earlier broken out in court when Momodu’s attorney objected to the way his client was handled.
