Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze appears determined to remain at AC Milan, despite reports that the Serie A giants are looking to offload him this summer.
9am News report that the 26-year-old hinted at his desire to continue at San Siro through an Instagram post on Sunday. Chukwueze shared a photo of himself wearing a classic Rossoneri shirt, captioned simply with red and black heart emojis colours synonymous with Milan.
The post has already caught the attention of his teammates, with Portuguese star Rafael Leao and English defender Fikayo Tomori both liking it a subtle show of support for the Nigerian international.
Chukwueze joined Milan in the summer of 2023 in a €21 million switch from Villarreal but has struggled to fully cement his place in the starting XI. He has so far managed eight goals and six assists in 69 appearances across all competitions.
While Chukwueze is keen to stay, his future could depend on new manager Massimiliano Allegri’s plans for the wing. Reports from Italy suggest Allegri prefers to keep Belgian winger Alexis Saelemaekers, who is returning from a loan spell at Roma, as a backup option to Christian Pulisic, which could squeeze Chukwueze further down the pecking order.
It remains to be seen whether the club’s management will back the Nigerian’s desire to fight for his place or move him on to raise funds for new signings this summer.
For now, Chukwueze’s message is clear he wants to keep wearing the red and black.
9am News will continue to monitor the situation as Milan’s summer plans unfold.
