Brentford continued their Premier League dominance over Bournemouth, securing a fifth straight away league win for the first time in 15 years with a 2-1 comeback victory at the Vitality Stadium.
Despite falling behind to an own goal by Vitaly Janelt, the Bees responded impressively with goals from Yoane Wissa and Christian Norgaard, sealing all three points and climbing to 11th in the league standings.
Bournemouth struggles against Brentford persisted, having failed to beat them since August 2014 in the Championship. Since their promotion to the Premier League, Brentford have remained unbeaten in all five league meetings between the two sides.
The hosts entered the game on the back of two consecutive home defeats, while Brentford were riding high with four straight away wins.
Despite Brentford’s energetic start, Bournemouth struck first in the 27th minute. Antoine Semenyo created the chance by feeding an overlapping Milos Kerkez, whose low cross was deflected into the net by Janelt, as the Brentford midfielder attempted to block the ball from reaching Marcus Tavernier.
Brentford, however, responded quickly. Bryan Mbuemo delivered a pinpoint cross, and Yoane Wissa made no mistake with a close-range header, beating Kepa Arrizabalaga, who was caught out of position. The goal marked Wissa’s 14th league strike of the season, underlining his importance to Thomas Frank’s side.
Brentford’s Impressive Away Streak Continues
With momentum on their side, Brentford continued to push forward. Their persistence paid off when Christian Norgaard completed the turnaround, securing a historic fifth consecutive away win for the club.
This result sees Brentford move to 11th place, further solidifying their mid-table status, while Bournemouth’s struggles at home continue.
With this victory, Thomas Frank’s men will be looking to build on their momentum and push further up the Premier League standings.
