The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared the winner of all contested positions in the Local Government Elections held in Kogi State on Saturday. The party secured victory in all 21 Chairmanship and 239 Councilorship positions.
The announcement was made by Mamman Nda Eri, Chairman of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), at the KOSIEC office, which was heavily guarded by security personnel.
While Eri did not provide specific details on the number of votes cast or the performance of other parties, he confirmed that the results declared by the local electoral officers were valid and accurate. The chairman simply announced the names of the winners along with their party affiliations, emphasizing that the results were based on field reports from each local government area.
Eri expressed gratitude to the people of Kogi State for their participation in the elections and acknowledged the efforts of observers, security agencies, and KOSIEC staff for ensuring a peaceful election process.
This landslide victory further strengthens the APC’s hold on political leadership in Kogi State.
