Big Brother Former Housemates

Big Brother Naija has honoured the memories of three former housemates who have passed away, in a moving tribute that brought the current season’s contestants together in solemn reflection.

The tribute recognised Francisca Owumi, Joseph “Joe” Ada, and Rico Swavey, three housemates who left lasting impressions on the reality TV show and its fans.

Francisca Owumi, the runner-up of BBNaija’s debut season in 2006, was remembered for her vibrant personality, passion for dance, and free spirit. She died in 2024 after battling a prolonged illness.

Joseph “Joe” Ada, another contestant from the 2006 season, was also honoured. He passed away in May 2023 following health complications.

The ceremony also celebrated the life of Rico Swavey (Patrick Fakoya), who featured in the 2018 Double Wahala season. He was remembered for his creativity, calm nature, and the strong fanbase he built during his time on the show. Rico tragically died in 2022 after a car accident.

During the tribute, images of the late housemates were displayed on screen, followed by a minute of silence. The gesture gave both housemates and viewers a chance to reflect on the contributions of these stars to the BBNaija legacy.

The show’s producers said the tribute was a way of acknowledging their impact and ensuring their memories live on in the hearts of fans.
