UCL Round of 16

What a dramatic day in the Champions League! 7-time winner Milan crashes out of the UCL, while Bayern Munich has managed to sneak in with a late equalizer. Meanwhile, Club Brugge has pulled off a stunning upset against Atalanta, winning 3-1 at the Bergamo to book their spot in the round of 16.

Bayern Munich’s qualification was a heartbreak for their opponent. The Scottish champions did took the lead in the 63rd minute to go level on aggregate score, but substitute Alphonso Davies late equalizer in the 4th minute of added time, broke the heart of all Celtic lovers and send the German side into the Round of 16.

Club Brugge’s victory over Atalanta was quite a shock when the Belgian side went into the 2nd half with a 3-0 lead and a 5-1 aggregate score. Atalanta did strike immediately into the 2nd half through their previously injured starman and halftime substitute Ademola Lookman, who scored what would later be a consolation goal in the 46th minute, but his missed penalty in the 61st minute meant there was no hope back for the Italian side.

As for Milan, their draw to Feyenoord means they’ll be watching the rest of the Champions League from the sidelines. Milan did start the game well, with former Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, who transferred to Milan less than 3 weeks ago, giving the Italian side the lead in the 1st minute of the game. But Milan left-back Theo Hernandez received a red card after seeing a 2nd yellow card in the 51st minute, giving Feyenoord the chance to get back into the game and equalize, taking them through to the Round of 16. It’s been a tough campaign for Milan, and they’ll be looking to regroup and come back stronger next season.

Overall, it’s been a wild day in the Champions League, with plenty of twists and turns. Bayern Munich,Feyenord, Benfica and Club Brugge are moving on to the Round of 16, while Milan, Celtic, Monaco and Atalanta are heading home.
