Bayelsa APC Reverses Suspension of Minister Lokpobiri, Others

Bayelsa APC reverses the suspension of Minister Heineken Lokpobiri and others, following appeals from state lawmakers
Bayelsa APC suspension Lokpobiri

The Bayelsa State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reversed the suspension of the Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, and other notable party chieftains, including former APC governorship candidate Chief David Lyon. This decision followed an extended meeting of the party, which involved the state executive, sitting state Assembly members, and local government chairmen of the APC.

The meeting focused on resolving the internal crisis caused by the suspension of key party stakeholders from Southern Ijaw, Ekeremor, Sagbama, and Yenagoa local government areas. After pleas from the minority caucus of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, the party leadership decided to hold off on ratifying the suspensions to allow further consultation with critical stakeholders.

Key Resolutions:

  1. The suspension of Heineken Lokpobiri, David Lyon, and other chieftains has been put on hold.
  2. The extended state executive and the APC State Assembly Caucus condemned the actions of the state’s Commissioner for Power, Kharin Kumoku, accusing him of leading thugs to attack the APC state secretariat. Also, They called on Governor Douye Diri to caution the commissioner and urged the Bayelsa State Police Commissioner and the Director of DSS to investigate the incident.

Furthermore, This development highlights ongoing internal conflicts within the Bayelsa APC, but the decision to reverse the suspensions reflects the party’s efforts to resolve disputes and maintain unity ahead of key political events.
