Nigerian music star, actor, and politician Bankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, has achieved a remarkable academic milestone by earning a Master’s degree in Policy Management from the prestigious Georgetown University in Washington D.C.
Banky W shared the joyful news via his verified Instagram page on May 20, 2025, calling the last few years a “stretching season” for him and his family. He reflected on how faith, perseverance, and family support helped him balance life as a father, student, and political fellow in the U.S.
“Faith gives you the courage, resilience, and power to redefine endings,” he wrote. “What many may see as the finish line of a journey can become the starting point of the next chapter.”
The singer-turned-politician revealed that he earned his degree in Policy Management, commonly known as an MPA (Master’s of Public Administration), from Georgetown’s McCourt School of Public Policy. He described the experience as both exhausting and deeply rewarding.
“I’m grateful to have studied at one of the greatest schools on the planet for Public Policy. I’m even more grateful that we welcomed our 2nd child, Hezekiah Oluwadarasimi Wellington, in the middle of earning this degree in Washington DC.”
Despite the challenges, Banky W revealed that he simultaneously juggled parenting two children, attending school full-time, and serving as a Fellow on Capitol Hill.
“It was completely exhausting, but by the grace of God, the strength of faith, and the support of family, friends, and mentors, we did it!” he added.
Banky W used his academic success as an opportunity to encourage his followers, emphasizing that personal reinvention and growth are always possible — no matter the stage in life.
“It’s never too late to dream a new dream or redefine the ending of an existing one,” he stated. “As I prepare to step off the balcony and return to the dance floor, I hope you take this as a sign.”
