Arsenal Football Club have been handed a challenging start to the 2025/2026 Premier League season, with a difficult run of fixtures that could test their title credentials early.
According to a statement published on arsenal.com, the Gunners will open the new season with a blockbuster clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, August 17 marking the first time since the 2022/2023 campaign that Arsenal begin their season away from home. On that occasion, they defeated Crystal Palace 2-0 at Selhurst Park.
After the Old Trafford opener, Arsenal will host newly promoted Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium. But the challenge intensifies quickly, as they travel to Anfield to face Liverpool on August 30 in what is expected to be another high-stakes encounter.
Following the international break in early September, Mikel Arteta’s men return to action with back-to-back home games against Nottingham Forest and defending champions Manchester City, before traveling to St. James’ Park to face Newcastle United, rounding out a difficult first month and a half.

October promises an all-London lineup with ties against West Ham United, Fulham, and Crystal Palace. November doesn’t offer relief either, with consecutive away games against Burnley and Sunderland, followed by the highly anticipated North London Derby on November 22, where Arsenal host Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur.
Arsenal will hope this season finally sees them lift the Premier League trophy after finishing as runners-up three times in a row falling behind Manchester City in 2022/2023 and 2023/2024, and then narrowly missing out to Liverpool in 2024/2025.
The previous season wasn’t entirely bleak, as the North London side reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2009. They famously defeated Real Madrid in both legs of the quarter-finals, only to fall to eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain, who routed Inter Milan 5-0 in the final.
With a tough start ahead, fans will be eager to see how Arteta’s squad responds as they aim to turn near-misses into long-awaited silverware.
