The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has won the September 28, 2024, local government elections in Anambra State, securing all chairmanship and councillorship seats across the state’s 21 local government areas. The announcement was made by the Chairman of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), Genevieve Osakwe, at the ANSIEC office in Awka.
Osakwe declared the election free and fair, emphasizing that the results were carefully collated and analysed to avoid errors. She noted that none of the opposition candidates or their party agents appeared at the ANSIEC office when the election results were declared.
Osakwe also commended the people of Anambra State for coming out in large numbers to exercise their civic rights, and expressed gratitude to security agencies for maintaining peace throughout the election process.
In her statement, Osakwe said, “Local Government Elections held at all the polling units across Anambra State on September 28, and it was free, fair, and credible.”
This victory marks a significant win for APGA, solidifying its stronghold in the state.
