The Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly denied allegations of the suspension of its 2023 governorship candidate, Senator Aishatu Ahmed (Binani). In a statement issued on Thursday evening, the party described the claims as “fake and mischievous” and vowed to identify and discipline those responsible for the false narrative.
In a statement signed by the APC State Publicity Secretary, Mohammed Abdullahi, the party emphasized that Senator Binani remains a loyal and critical stakeholder of the APC in Adamawa State.
“Our findings revealed that the story is orchestrated by those who are not happy with the current efforts of our leader, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu (NSA), and Comrade Mustapha Salihu (National Vice Chairman North East), in resolving all issues and uniting the party in the state,” the statement read.
The Yola South Local Government Area of the APC, cited in the reports as the source of the alleged suspension, has officially refuted the claims. The local chapter issued a written confirmation affirming that Senator Binani was neither suspended nor facing any disciplinary action.
The APC National Vice Chairman for the North East, Mustapha Salihu, has directed an investigation to uncover those behind the planted story. Salihu assured that stringent disciplinary action would be taken against those attempting to destabilize the party with fabricated news.
This is not the first time Senator Binani has faced unfounded claims of suspension. A similar incident occurred in March 2023, during her campaign for the Adamawa governorship seat. Then, as now, the party leadership stepped forward to dismiss the allegations and reaffirm her standing as a party stalwart.
Also, the APC in Adamawa State has reiterated its commitment to unity and discipline within its ranks, emphasizing that such misinformation campaigns will not deter the party from achieving its goals.
