In honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the temporary closure of its National Secretariat in Abuja.
The former Nigerian leader passed away on Sunday in a London hospital after a prolonged illness, triggering a wave of national mourning and tributes.
According to a statement issued on Monday by APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka and seen by 9am News Nigeria, the decision was directed by the party’s Acting National Chairman, Hon. Bukar Dalori.
“The All Progressives Congress (APC) announces the closure of its National Secretariat in Abuja in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR,” the statement read.
The closure takes effect from Monday, July 14, 2025. Normal activities at the Secretariat are expected to resume on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
The ruling party also called on its members and supporters across the country to observe the period of mourning with solemnity and quiet reflection.
“We urge Party faithful to use this period of national mourning for quiet reflection and prayers for the repose of the soul of our departed leader,” Morka added.
President Buhari, who led Nigeria from 2015 to 2023, was a founding figure of the APC and remained an influential voice in national affairs long after leaving office. His passing has continued to attract tributes celebrating his legacy of discipline, public service, and dedication to Nigeria’s unity and progress.
