Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) secured a dramatic 2-1 win over Barcelona at the Montjuïc Stadium on Wednesday night, thanks to a last-minute strike from Gonçalo Ramos.
Barcelona opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Ferran Torres found the net, sending the home fans into celebration. However, PSG responded before the break as Senny Mayulu finished off a brilliant assist from Nuno Mendes in the 38th minute.
The match seemed destined for a draw until the 90th minute, when Ramos latched onto a pass from Achraf Hakimi to slot home the winner, sealing three crucial points for the French champions.
After the game, Barcelona defender Jules Koundé admitted his side struggled to cope with PSG’s physicality and ball control.
“I think they controlled the ball and were also physically superior,” Koundé told Canal+ (via Paris Fans). “We weren’t able to press the way we wanted. I believe a little bit of everything was missing from our game tonight. We have to acknowledge that they delivered a very strong performance. I’m disappointed.”
Koundé added that PSG’s quality was no surprise. “We know the quality of this team. They are full of confidence and have top-level players. Today, they showed why they are European champions. It was a tough match, and they were the better team tonight.”
Tough Night for Koundé
Individually, it was a difficult outing for Koundé. He won just 5 of his 12 duels and was dribbled past twice by PSG attackers, despite the visitors missing three key players in their forward line.
Barcelona will now look to bounce back on Matchday 3, with attention turning to whether Koundé and his teammates can tighten their defense against high-level European opposition.
