Enyimba International Football Club of Aba climbed to the summit of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table after securing a 2-0 away victory against Bayelsa United at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa, on Sunday.
The two-time CAF Champions League winners, who endured a challenging 2024/25 campaign, showed renewed intent under coach Stanley Eguma. After a goalless first half, Chidera Michael broke the deadlock in the 78th minute. Five minutes later, Kalu Nweke sealed the win with a composed strike to hand the People’s Elephant their second win of the season.
The victory moves Enyimba top of the NPFL standings with eight points from four matches, boasting two wins and two draws without defeat. They will next host Bendel Insurance at the Enyimba International Stadium on September 21, while Bayelsa United will look to bounce back when they face Nasarawa United.
