Jack Grealish joins Everton on loan for the 2025-26 season in a move that could reignite his career. The Manchester City winger, who struggled for game time last season, will now play under David Moyes as the Toffees aim for a strong Premier League campaign.
Grealish fell out of favour with City boss Pep Guardiola, making only seven Premier League starts. His omission from the Club World Cup squad signaled his uncertain future, and with the new season approaching, Everton stepped in to secure the high-profile loan deal.
The 29-year-old will wear the number 18 shirt at Everton, inspired by club legends Wayne Rooney and Paul Gascoigne. Grealish revealed he spoke to Rooney before signing, adding that his childhood heroes influenced his choice.
Since joining Manchester City from Aston Villa in 2021 for a then British record £100 million, Grealish has won the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup. However, his form has dipped since the 2022-23 treble-winning season, leading to his exclusion from England’s Euro 2024 squad.
Everton fans have already flooded Grealish with messages of support on social media. He expressed excitement about the move, saying there was “only one place” he wanted to go after speaking with the manager.
Moyes described Grealish as an experienced addition who can perform at the highest level and potentially earn a recall to the England squad before next year’s World Cup. Everton, now playing in their new Hill Dickinson stadium, will look to Grealish to bring creativity and star quality to their attack.
