WAEC Review 2025 WASSCE Results After Detecting Errors

WAEC has halted access to the 2025 WASSCE results after detecting errors in key subjects, pledging corrections within 24 hours and urging candidates to recheck later.
WAEC 2025 Results Review

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced an urgent review of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results following the discovery of errors and discrepancies.

According to WAEC, technical issues were uncovered during the paper serialisation process for Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics. The council said these glitches affected the accuracy of some of the previously released results.

Earlier, on August 4, WAEC reported that only 38 per cent of candidates obtained credits in five subjects, including English and Mathematics — a statistic that triggered widespread public outrage.

In a statement issued by its Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, WAEC confirmed that its result checking portal has been temporarily disabled to allow for the corrections.

“As a responsive body sensitive to fairness and professionalism, we have decided to urgently review and correct the technical glitches that led to the situation,” the statement read.

“We extend our deep and sincere apologies to all affected candidates and the general public. We appreciate their patience and understanding as we work diligently to resolve this matter with transparency and urgency within the next twenty-four hours.”

WAEC advised candidates who had previously checked their results to revisit the portal after 24 hours to confirm the updated figures.

The council reiterated its commitment to excellence, fairness, and transparency in its examinations, assuring the public that the review process would be concluded quickly and without bias.
