Wilfred Ndidi has arrived in Turkey to complete his move to Besiktas. The Nigerian midfielder will undergo routine medical tests before signing a three-year contract, with an option for an extra year.
Besiktas finalized a deal with Leicester City earlier this week after triggering the release clause in Ndidi’s contract. Although Spanish side Valencia made a late attempt to hijack the move, their offer was turned down.
Ndidi joined Leicester City in January 2017 from Belgian club Genk. Over eight seasons, he became a key figure in midfield. Despite the club’s relegation last season, the 28-year-old impressed with one goal and five assists in 30 appearances.
In total, Ndidi played 303 matches for Leicester City, scoring 18 goals and providing 22 assists across all competitions.
Ndidi’s move to Besiktas adds to the growing list of Nigerian players in Turkey. Paul Onuachu recently signed with Trabzonspor, Henry Onyekuru joined Genclerbirligi, and Victor Osimhen completed a high-profile transfer to Galatasaray.
The 9am News report confirms that Ndidi’s transfer is expected to be completed officially in the coming days.
