In a major step toward enhancing Nigeria’s digital identity infrastructure, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has successfully migrated all telecommunications operators in the country to its upgraded National Identification Number (NIN) verification platform, known as NINAuth.
According to a 9am News report, the move is designed to improve the security, reliability, and accessibility of NIN verification services for telecom-related transactions across Nigeria.
The NINAuth platform, developed and managed by NIMC, ensures seamless digital identity verification, giving users greater control over their data. With all telecom operators now fully integrated into the upgraded system, Nigerians can enjoy uninterrupted NIN-linked services, including:
- New SIM registrations
- SIM swaps
- SIM migrations
- “Welcome Back” processes
Telecom Services Now Running Smoothly
Engr. Lanre Yusuf, NIMC’s Director of IT/IDD, confirmed the completion of the migration, stating that all verification services across telecom operators are now running smoothly.
“NIMC wishes to assure the general public that its verification and authentication platforms are fully operational and accessible. NIN holders experiencing any difficulties related to SIM services are advised to contact their respective telecom service providers for immediate assistance,” the Commission said in a statement.
The Commission emphasized that the upgraded NINAuth platform represents a critical enhancement to Nigeria’s digital ecosystem, ensuring more secure and efficient service delivery across multiple sectors.
By streamlining NIN verification processes for mobile operators, NIMC is positioning the country for improved national security, better digital inclusion, and stronger regulatory compliance.
This development comes amid growing demand for safe and seamless digital identity verification, especially in light of Nigeria’s continued push toward digital transformation in governance, finance, and communications.
As part of its commitment to excellence, the Commission reiterated its dedication to providing secure, user-friendly, and efficient digital ID services to all Nigerians.
