Canadian rapper Tory Lanez is reportedly in critical condition after being stabbed 14 times by another inmate inside a prison housing unit, according to a statement released by his team.
Lanez, who is serving a prison sentence following his conviction in the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, was attacked in what prison sources described as a violent altercation. The incident left him with life-threatening injuries, prompting an emergency response by prison officials.
In an official statement shared via Instagram, Lanez’s team confirmed the rapper was stabbed seven times in the back, four times in the torso, twice in the back of the head, and once on the left side of his face.
“Both of his lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing apparatus. He is now breathing on his own,” the statement read.
According to TMZ, prison staff responded swiftly after the altercation erupted. Emergency first aid was administered on the scene, and 911 was called immediately. Lanez was transported to a hospital outside prison grounds where he received advanced medical treatment.
Although initially in critical condition, sources close to the artist now report that he is conscious, speaking normally, and in good spirits. His team expressed gratitude on his behalf:
“Despite the pain, Tory is thankful to God and everyone who has prayed for him. He’s pushing through with strength and resilience.”
The motive behind the stabbing remains unclear, and prison authorities have not yet disclosed the identity of the attacker. It is also not known whether any charges have been filed as investigations continue.
The correctional facility has not issued an official press release on the incident as of the time of this report.
