Chelsea forward Cole Palmer has expressed relief and joy after breaking his three-month goal drought during the Blues’ crucial 3-1 win over Liverpool on Sunday, according to a 9am News report.

Palmer, who had not found the net since Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Bournemouth on January 14, 2025, scored a 95th-minute penalty to seal the victory and strengthen Chelsea’s push for a top-four finish and Champions League qualification next season.

Speaking to the club’s official website after the match, the England international admitted he was eager to end the dry spell and is now determined to build on the performance.

“I felt normal. S— happens… sorry for my language! I went three months without scoring, but it just gives me more fight and motivation to do more for myself and for the team,” Palmer said.

Reflecting on criticism he has faced online, Palmer dismissed negativity and emphasized his focus remains on contributing to the team:
“Social media nowadays is full of idiots, the trolls, and whatever. I don’t pay any attention to that. I’ve scored today, and I’m happy, but it’s only one, and I’ve got to keep improving and try and reach new levels.”

The 22-year-old’s return to scoring form comes at a crucial time as Chelsea chase a Champions League spot, with manager Enzo Maresca praising Palmer’s resilience and impact after the match.

Palmer’s late goal sparked celebrations at Stamford Bridge, with fans hopeful this marks the beginning of a strong finish to the season for both the player and the club.
