The Ekiti State Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election in 2027 and Governor Biodun Oyebanji for a second term in 2026, citing their outstanding leadership qualities and impactful governance.

During a strategic meeting held on Friday in Iyin Ekiti, the caucus unanimously passed two motions: the first moved by Senator Yemi Adaramodu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, supporting President Tinubu’s second-term ambition; and the second by Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, urging Governor Oyebanji to contest the 2026 gubernatorial election.

Praise for Tinubu’s Leadership and Reforms

Senator Adaramodu lauded President Tinubu’s administration for initiating bold economic reforms that he described as “transformational,” crediting them with revitalizing the economy and addressing the core issues behind Nigeria’s security challenges.

“I move that we, in Ekiti APC, adopt continuity starting with President Tinubu—that come 2027, he should continue as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Adaramodu declared. He further dismissed opposition alliances as inconsequential, attributing them to political gamesmanship.

Speaker Aribasoye, in his motion for the governor’s endorsement, emphasized Oyebanji’s integrity, dedication, and consistent efforts to uplift the welfare of the Ekiti people. He praised the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and rural electrification.

“Governor Oyebanji has proven to be a visionary leader with tangible results across every town in the state,” he said.

Earlier at the meeting, APC State Chairman Sola Elesin affirmed that all parts of the state had benefited from various government interventions. These included infrastructure upgrades, improved healthcare services, youth empowerment programs, and support for agricultural development.

In a 9am News report, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, former Governor of Ekiti, applauded Oyebanji’s humility and leadership approach, saying he had upheld the progressive ideals of the party both at state and national levels.

Caucus Unity Around Continuity

Governor Oyebanji, expressing his appreciation, credited the achievements of his administration to the unwavering support of President Tinubu and the conducive environment created by federal reforms.

Former Governor Niyi Adebayo also endorsed Oyebanji’s re-election bid, stating: “Everyone is pleased with the work he is doing, and we believe he should seek re-election. He has our full support.”

The strong backing from key stakeholders positions both President Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji to receive widespread grassroots support within Ekiti State as future elections approach.
