World Bank fresh loans

The World Bank is expected to approve a new loan package worth $632 million for Nigeria today, aimed at supporting key sectors such as education and nutrition, according to reports from 9am News.

Information from the World Bank’s official website indicates that two major projects are set for final approval. The Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria 2.0 project will receive $80 million, while the HOPE for Quality Basic Education for All program is allocated $552 million. Both projects are in the negotiation stage and are part of the World Bank’s broader strategy to aid Nigeria’s development agenda, with a focus on improving nutrition, education, and community resilience.

Previous $500 Million Loan for Economic Resilience

This latest funding follows the World Bank’s approval of a $500 million loan to Nigeria on March 28, 2025. The loan was allocated to the Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus Program, which aims to boost economic resilience in Nigerian communities, improve food security for vulnerable populations, and provide financial grants for struggling households and small businesses. The program is expected to strengthen local economies and support livelihoods, particularly in disadvantaged communities.

With these new loans, the Nigerian government is expected to expand its initiatives in nutrition enhancement and basic education improvement, ensuring that more citizens benefit from global financial aid. The World Bank remains a key financial partner in Nigeria’s economic recovery efforts, as the country continues to tackle food insecurity, educational challenges, and economic instability.
