Suspended Rivers Governor Fubara Denies Allegations by Ex-Head of Service

Suspended Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara refutes allegations by former Head of Service Dr. George Nwaeke, dismissing claims of political meetings and sabotage as baseless.
Fubara Head of Service

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has strongly denied the allegations leveled against him by Dr. George Nwaeke, the immediate past Head of Service of the state.

In a statement on Tuesday, Fubara described the claims as fabricated lies, aimed at undermining him and the peace process initiated by President Bola Tinubu.

“Ordinarily, I would not have responded to his claims, but to correct the erroneous impression such allegations may create in the minds of the people, and the disaffection it is bound to cause in the state and the country,” Fubara stated.

One of the most serious allegations made by Dr. Nwaeke was that Governor Fubara secretly met with Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and militant groups to discuss plans for the 2027 presidential election and attacks on oil facilities.

Fubara dismissed the claims as baseless, insisting that Nwaeke, as a civil servant, was never privy to high-level political discussions.

“It is laughable that Dr. Nwaeke would be part of any high-level political meeting as Head of Service, much more sitting in my alleged night meetings with Bala Mohammed and militants like he claimed. None of such meetings ever held,” he asserted.

Fubara clarified that Bala Mohammed’s visit to Rivers State was public knowledge, as it was conducted in his official capacity as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum.

Dr. Nwaeke also alleged that Fubara was involved in meetings to encourage attacks on oil pipelines and national assets.

Fubara dismissed the accusation as false and politically motivated, emphasizing that he has consistently advocated for peace in Rivers State.

“There was no time I held any meeting with militants or any criminal group to destabilize the State. It is on record that I have been at the forefront preaching peace in the State even in the face of obvious provocations,” he said.

Fubara: “Nwaeke Has Been Compromised”

The suspended governor accused Nwaeke of acting under external influence, suggesting that he had been coerced or paid to make the allegations.

“The truth is that Dr. Nwaeke has been compromised, and whatever he is saying is only aimed at fulfilling his promise to those who may have paid or coerced him to lie against me,” Fubara claimed.

He urged Rivers residents and Nigerians to disregard Nwaeke’s allegations, describing them as desperate attempts to damage his reputation.

As political tensions continue in Rivers State, all eyes remain on the Federal Government’s response to the crisis surrounding Fubara’s suspension.
