Popular TikTok content creator Habeeb Adelaja, widely known as Peller, has suffered a massive drop in social media following after speaking out against the viral 30-day rant challenge.
Peller, who gained recognition for his interactive live videos, warned Nigerians participating in the challenge that it could result in the government banning TikTok in Nigeria.
“If you want to really rant, go to Instagram; go to the market; don’t rant here on TikTok. If they ban TikTok, that’s where we will have issues,” he said in a viral video.
His comments sparked immediate backlash, with many accusing him of trying to silence public frustrations.
Peller Loses Nearly 900,000 Followers
According to a report by TVC on Thursday, Peller has lost approximately 500,000 followers on TikTok and another 400,000 on Instagram since making his remarks.
Many social media users expressed disappointment in peller, arguing that the 30-day rant challenge is an outlet for Nigerians to voice their concerns about pressing issues. Others criticized him for prioritizing TikTok’s survival over freedom of expression.
As the debate over online activism and censorship grows, Peller has yet to respond to the mass unfollowing.
