Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed allegations suggesting link to militants group, labeling the reports as false and malicious attempts to stir unrest.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara condemned the circulation of misleading videos and social media posts alleging explosions at oil and gas facilities in the state. He clarified that affected communities have debunked the claims and confirmed that all critical infrastructure remains intact.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has no link to any militants group, does not contemplate any such association, and has no reason to encourage any criminal elements to undertake actions that threaten peace, security, or the economy,” the statement read.

Also, Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to peace and development in Rivers State, stressing that governance can only thrive in a stable environment. He also warned against attempts to exploit the ongoing political crisis in the state for personal or political gains.

Additionally, he urged bloggers and social media influencers to refrain from spreading misinformation, emphasizing that false reports could escalate tensions and disrupt stability. He called on security agencies to investigate and take action against those responsible for spreading fake news.

As political tensions persist in Rivers State, Fubara continues to advocate for stability, urging stakeholders to prioritize peace over conflict.
