NiMet Forecasts Sunshine and Haziness Across Nigeria from Monday to Wednesday

NiMet predicts sunny and hazy weather across Nigeria from Monday to Wednesday, with isolated thunderstorms in some regions.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted sunny and hazy weather conditions across nigeria from Monday to Wednesday, with isolated thunderstorms expected in parts of the North Central and Southern regions.

According to NiMet’s weather outlook, released on Sunday in Abuja, the northern region will experience sunny and hazy skies throughout the period.

In the North Central region, sunny skies with patches of clouds are expected in the morning. However, isolated thunderstorms are likely later in the day over parts of Kogi, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasarawa, Niger, and Kwara States.

The southern region will have cloudy skies with spells of sunshine in the morning, with localised thunderstorms expected in Lagos, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom. By the afternoon and evening, thunderstorms are expected over Ondo, Ekiti, Osun, Ogun, Oyo, Edo, Ebonyi, Imo, Abia, Delta, Cross River, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa States.

On Tuesday, the northern region will continue to experience sunny and hazy skies throughout the day.

In the North Central region, sunny skies with patches of clouds are expected in the morning.

The southern region will see cloudy skies with sunshine intervals, with morning thunderstorms likely over Cross River, Delta, and Akwa Ibom. Afternoon/evening thunderstorms are expected over Osun, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Edo, Ebonyi, Abia, Anambra, Imo, Delta, Cross River, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa States.

By Wednesday, sunny skies will dominate the northern region.

In the North Central region, sunny skies with patches of clouds are expected in the morning, while localised thunderstorms may develop over Nasarawa, FCT, Kogi, and Kwara States in the afternoon.

The southern region will have cloudy skies with sunshine in the morning, followed by localised thunderstorms in Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Imo, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa States later in the day.

NiMet has advised Nigerians to take necessary precautions, especially as strong winds may accompany thunderstorms in affected areas.

  • Individuals with respiratory conditions, especially in the northern parts, should take extra care due to haziness.
  • Airline operators should obtain airport-specific weather reports for better flight planning.
