Former Senate Deputy President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has dismissed claims that he plans to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) to form a new political party.
In a statement by his Media Adviser, Sunny Areh, Omo-Agege described the report as baseless and a fabrication aimed at sowing discord within the party.
Omo-Agege, who was the APC governorship candidate in Delta State during the 2023 elections, highlighted his unwavering loyalty to the party.
“The story is not only shocking but idiotic,” the statement read. “As the leader of APC in Delta State, having taken it through its best-ever performance in the 2023 elections, Senator Omo-Agege remains committed to the party’s progress.”
He dismissed the allegations as a politically motivated attack intended to drive a wedge between him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Highlighting APC Achievements
The statement emphasized the APC’s achievements under Omo-Agege’s leadership in Delta State, including winning two out of three senatorial seats. Despite narrowly losing the governorship election, Omo-Agege pledged to continue working with progressive forces to rescue Delta State from failed policies and corruption.
“Together with other progressive forces, he will steer the state to true prosperity, ensuring Delta fulfills its potential as a frontline oil-producing state,” the statement added.
Omo-Agege urged APC members to disregard the “hatchet job” and remain steadfast in their loyalty to the party. He also praised President Tinubu’s reform agenda, which he said is already yielding positive results.
“President Tinubu will not be deterred by reactionary forces seeking to keep the people in perpetual penury,” he noted.
The statement concluded by reaffirming Omo-Agege’s dedication to the APC’s goals and vision for a prosperous Delta State and Nigeria.
