Gunmen suspected to be bandits have attacked Kakin Dawa village in Gidan Goga, Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, abducting over 50 women and children. According to 9am News, the attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday, around 1:30 am, when the armed bandits stormed the community with sophisticated weapons.
A resident of Kakin Dawa village in Gidan Goga, Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State revealed that the gunmen went house-to-house during the raid, causing widespread panic. “Everyone started running because the armed bandits have been targeting our village. Later, we discovered that more than 50 of our women were abducted,” the source shared. Among the kidnapped victims are young girls and married women, intensifying the community’s distress.
The resident further appealed to both the federal government and the Zamfara State government to deploy more military and security personnel to the area to combat the ongoing terrorist activities. The need for urgent intervention to secure the release of the abductees and protect vulnerable communities remains paramount.
Efforts to reach the Zamfara State Police Command spokesman, ASP Yazid Abubakar, for comments were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
The attack highlights the persistent insecurity plaguing parts of Zamfara State, where banditry has led to numerous kidnappings and loss of lives. Residents of Kakin Dawa continue to hope for swift action from authorities to address the crisis and bring an end to the terror inflicted on their community.
