At a mega rally in Ondo State on Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kassim Shettima, alongside five APC governors and top party dignitaries, ramped up support for the party’s governorship candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Held at the MKO Democracy Park in Akure, the rally marked the final push for Aiyedatiwa ahead of the November 16 election.
Prominent governors, including Lagos State’s Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ogun’s Dapo Abiodun, Imo’s Hope Uzodinma, Ekiti’s Biodun Oyebanji, and Kwara’s AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, joined the rally. The National Chairman of APC, Abdulahi Ganduje, and other key figures, such as senators and ministers, also lent their support, emphasizing the party’s commitment to Ondo’s future.
During the rally, Shettima conveyed Tinubu’s vision, underscoring Aiyedatiwa’s strategic thinking and compassionate leadership as critical for Ondo’s progress. He promised that the APC would secure all 18 local government areas, urging Ondo citizens to stand united under a “progressive banner.”
Reflecting on Ondo’s past leaders, Shettima emphasized continuity, stating, “The spirit of Ajasin, Akeredolu, and other Ondo legends would undoubtedly align with APC’s vision of prosperity.” He highlighted recent achievements, including President Tinubu’s approval of a university teaching hospital in Akure.
National Chairman Ganduje echoed the call for unity, urging voters to support Aiyedatiwa for continued infrastructural and social development. Governor Aiyedatiwa, speaking with confidence, pointed to his accomplishments over the last 10 months and expressed optimism about leading Ondo to greater heights if elected.
The rally underscored the APC commitment to Ondo State Governorship election, with leaders urging the electorate to come out en masse on November 16 to secure a decisive win.
