The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has announced the party’s intent to target Ondo and Anambra State following their recent win in Edo State’s governorship election. Ganduje disclosed this during a briefing at the APC national secretariat in Abuja, expressing confidence in replicating their success in the forthcoming Ondo election.
Ganduje emphasized that winning Anambra would strengthen the APC’s foothold in the Southeast, joining forces with the existing APC-governed states, Imo and Ebonyi. He also revealed the party’s strategic plan to combat marginalization in the region, aiming to expand their influence across more states in the Southeast.
“We have already started working on strategies to win Anambra State next year. Our goal is to address the political de-marginalization of the Southeast zone, and we are committed to recovering more states for our party,” Ganduje stated.
Reflecting on the challenges faced during the Edo election, Ganduje noted that the APC had to overcome obstacles, including former member and now PDP governor, Godwin Obaseki, but ultimately reclaimed power. Ganduje added, “APC victory in Edo is a testament to our resilience, and we will continue to pursue success in future elections, including Anambra and Ondo.”
