NPFL Matchday Two Results: Teams Battle Out In Draws

This weekend saw seven thrilling fixtures in NPFL Matchday Two, resulting in four draws and three wins. Rivers United started their home campaign strong with a 3-1 victory against Heartland FC at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium. Taofeek Olaniyi gave the hosts an early lead in the fourth minute, but Heartland’s Christian Molokwu equalized before halftime. Rivers United, led by Finidi George, secured the win thanks to a second-half brace from new signing Kabir Abdullahi.

In the Southwest Derby, Remo Stars battled Sunshine Stars to a 1-0 win, with Sadiq Ibrahim’s seventh-minute strike deciding the contest. This victory places Remo Stars at the top of the NPFL standings with six points from two matches.

Elsewhere, Akwa United and Abia Warriors played out a 1-1 draw, with Ezekiel Edidiong’s stoppage-time penalty salvaging a point for the home side after Adejoh Ojonugwa opened the scoring for Abia Warriors.

Katsina United and Bendel Insurance also drew 1-1, with Bello Lukman cancelling out James Oronsaye’s opener for Bendel Insurance. In another match, Bayelsa United and Kano Pillars shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Meanwhile, Niger Tornadoes and Nasarawa United ended in a goalless draw.

In the final match of the day, Shooting Stars drew 1-1 against Plateau United, with goals from Victor Dawa and Uche Odeh.
