Ogasabi reports on the 9am news that Ifeanyi Ubah, the senator representing Anambra South in the National Assembly, has died. The senator allegedly left Nigeria for the UK two days ago and passed away in a UK hospital while undergoing surgery. He would have turned 53 on September 3.
On the 9am news Nigeria segment, Ogasabi highlights that last year, Ifeanyi Ubah defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Young Progressives Party (YPP). He was later reelected to the 10th Senate by the YPP. The late Senator was expected to run for governor of Anambra State on the APC ticket. According to a source, he donated money to the Anambra APC two days ago.
The 9am news also recalls that the CEO of Capital Oil survived an assassination attempt in September 2022. His death comes just a few days after the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, passed on.
Ogasabi further reports on the 9am news Nigeria that Senate spokesman Yemi Adaramodu released a statement saying, “Senator Ifeanyi Ubah was an exemplary leader, a committed public servant, and an indefatigable advocate for his constituents. His untimely departure represents a significant loss to the Senate, his community, and the nation at large.”
